Schwinn Mountain Bike

I unscrew the valve until it is fully extended, ***** the adapter over top, hook up the pump and all i get is resistance from the pump and no air blowing out. What am i doing wrong?

the brakes are fine, it glides down hills and with no momentum without a noise, but the second I pedal it squeaks so loudly! It has recent rained, but this is the first time it has happened after encountering the rain before- any solutions?
