We’d rather not have a packed out family camping ground, so we’re thinking of going the weekend after next.
Any advice you could give would be appreciated!

I already have the bike, helmet, padded shorts, and the co2 kit to inflate a new tube.

Are there specific techniques I need to learn prior to my first trip out? What equipment do I need besides a bike and helmet?

I currently use a 3 year old Garmin eTrex. It loses signal as soon as I go into the sparsest treecover. Are the newer more expensive units more sensitive so that they find the signal when in the woods?

I’m not talking about traction or grip on the road, but how much holes and rocks shake the bike! I’m using Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires, and it seems like my rides are much bumpier… The tires I’m using are very sturdy and rigid in order to prevent flat tires.
