Is The Savings Of A Scooter Worth The Risk Of Driving It??

In a time when it seems as if prices are rising exponentially overnight, how far will people go to save a few bucks?  I think we have all seen a new rise in more efficient, money saving alternatives many of which tend to be “green” alternatives.  Less people are dining out, many people are cutting out trips to the beach, and I find myself paying bills online rather than driving to the post office.  Americans …

Anyone Here Owns Or Has Owned A Flying Pigeon Bicycle?

Categories: Bicycle Commuting | August 15th, 2009 | by admin | one comments

A Reader Asks…

I am considering the purchase of a men’s style (PA-02 or PA-02D) Flying Pigeon bicycle for daily commuting. Are they reliable for long-term use? How easy is it (in the US) to get replacement parts such as inner tubes, chainrings, and the like? Any input here will be highly appreciated and will allow me to make an informed decision before I buy. Much obliged in advance.

What Is The Best Led Bicycle Head Light For Every Day After Dark Commuting In A City?

Categories: Bicycle Commuting | July 30th, 2009 | by admin | 2 comments

A Reader Asks…

I have a huge and heavy 16 LED flashlight that works well. But well, it’s huge and heavy and the “D” cell batteries rattle… though they do last along time. Any suggestions? I’m not spending more than $30 ish. Need to be a quick release and usable with a handlebar bag in place also.

Analyze This Poem For Me Please Its For A Research Paper?

Categories: Bicycle Commuting | November 14th, 2009 | by admin | one comments

A Reader Asks…

Bicycle commute
Stillness returns as I retrace the path
Daily rhythms hold at workday close.
Spirit wind is a constant companion.
Even when the leaves are idle,
The breathe of life is called forth
By the joy of movement.
Time is irrelevant, the sun moves
the mind to reflect on the day
as gravel stones sing a broken melody
and the horizon communicates purpose.
Machine, sacred ring of Black Elk’s vision
Revealed in steel and sweat.
Alan Bender
