I Am Moving To Christchurch, Dorset Uk From The Usa. I Have Never Been To The Uk. My Neighborhood Question…?

I will be commuting with my bicycle. Are there the following in every Christchurch, Dorset neighborhood?
1. Grocery stores
2. City Transit (bus and light rail)
3. Christian Churches
Also, I have never been to Christchurch, what’s it like as a US national?

Christchurch is quite a small town even by English standards – the bicycle is a great idea as the town is seriously congested being built across a wide river estuary. The old bridge is really narrow so a new causeway has been built but this hasn’t made a lot of difference. The High Street is well stocked with shops and there are plenty of supermarkets in the area. There is a fairly good bus service linking to Bournemouth (the main town for the area) and rail services running west to Bournemouth and Poole and eastwards to Southampton and then up to London.
The cycling is very good around this area and you are near the ancient New Forest, one of Europe’s great natural treasures with half wild ponies, cattle and pigs as well as snakes, badgers and foxes.
There are a full range of Christian churches and the old Priory is alleged to be actively haunted by a friendly old man! It is a beautiful part of the country and I am sure you will have a great time.

Ooh, Mark, that was harsh. True though!
PS You forgot the used car salesmen, double-glazing cold callers and lawyers, who also fall into the land shark category. It might also have been a good idea to advise the young man not to go round yelling about how much bigger and better everything is in the “United States”.

Yes, yes and yes, although despite the name Christchurch is no more christian than anywhere else in the UK, its not a christian ‘mecca’.
It is though a beautiful place between the new forest and the sea.http://www.christchurchdorset.co.uk/

We really are quite civilised you know. We have shops, buses, trains and churches in large numbers throughout the country. We have modern homes, schools and hospitals, with electricity and labour saving devices found in all of them. If you are taken ill, or have an accident requiring life – saving treatment, we will carry out that treatment without checking that you have insurance first, and we will not send you a crippling bill for the treatment.
Our shops are open for 6½ days a week, and most convenience stores are open from early morning until late at night just in case you run out of something. Most fuel stations are also convenience stores and quite a few of them are open 24 hours.
The buses are very safe, as vehicles here drive on the correct side of the road, as are the trains, and you can travel for hundreds of miles without seeing person with a gun.
The churches are quietly run by dedicated people who do not attempt to influence Government policy in a vociferous way. One of the benefits of this is that we don’t kill our own citizens, even if they are poor and black.
Our banknotes come in differing sizes and colours, which stops us getting bored with green, and helps to prevent counterfeiting. They all have a picture of the Queen on them, so that we don’t forget who she is.
Our climate doesn’t suffer from extremes, and you can tell when it is summer because the rain is warmer. We don’t have any dangerous wildlife, like cougars, rattlesnakes or alligators, but like you we do have the two legged land shark (most of them are called estate agents here).
As most of my fellow English people will tell you, we are quite fond of humour. If you don’t quite understand that, ask one of your new neighbours to explain it to you.
Welcome to Britain. Dorset is one of Britain’s most pleasant places, but you won’t find Twinkies or Hershey bars I’m afraid.
